CHANGE AT THE TOP OF NORTHALLERTON ROTARY CLUB

After a highly successful year as the first lady President of the Rotary Club of Northallerton, Emma Biggs hands over today to David Ison.  During her year in office, Emma has devoted great energy and commitment to her role, initiating several innovative ideas for activities and support to the community.  She has represented the Club enthusiastically and has been active in all events.

Reflecting on her year, Emma said “I have been honoured to make history by being the first lady President of Northallerton Rotary Club, and I have enjoyed every moment.  Club members have given me strong support, for which I am most grateful.”

New President David Ison has been a Rotarian for 34 years, initially joining the Rotary Club of Teesside West, then York for 14 years, and now Northallerton since 2021.  He has an electrical engineering background, working in a number of major companies in the UK and abroad, including Libya, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Germany.  His roles covered steel, petrochemicals, telecommunications and the railways.  He is married to Helen, and they have two daughters and three grandchildren.

David said “I congratulate Emma on her very active year, and I look forward to upholding the high reputation of the Club for its friendly welcome and strong support for the community.  I count this role as a great opportunity to serve in the best traditions of Rotary International.”

President Elect for the coming year is John Prest, who will assume the Presidency in July 2025.
