District Governor David Phillips praised the Club for its active work in the community. President Emma Biggs, the first lady President of the Club, thanked all of the guests for supporting this special occasion. She described some of the projects in which the Club is involved, in terms of stimulating youth activities, supporting local community events, international projects, and fund raising for charitable causes.
The evening included a raffle, with prizes generously donated by Northallerton businesses Joe Cornish Galleries, J Thompson Family Butcher, Secrets Hair Salon, Brook Taverner Menswear, and several Club members. A splendid £500 was raised by the event, which will be donated to the Friends of the Friarage Hospital in Northallerton, for their eye department.
During the event, President Emma presented the highest award in Rotary, a Paul Harris Fellowship, to Jan Davison of Northallerton Rotary Club, in recognition of her unstinting support for the Club and its fundraising for charities.
