ROTARY HONOURS FORMER TOWN HALL CARETAKER
The Rotary Club of Northallerton has presented a special award to the former
caretaker of the Northallerton Town Hall, Malcolm Rowell. Malcolm worked at the
Town Hall for 11 years, retiring in March 2026. He was well-known for his helpful
manner and willingness to assist anyone holding events in the Town Hall.
Twice a year the Northallerton Rotary Club holds Spring and Autumn Fairs in the
lower Town Hall, and Malcolm cheerfully helped to set up and clear the room each
time. He was also of great assistance in preparing for the Northallerton Rotary Club
Summer Fiesta on the Town Square in August 2022, the year that the Club
celebrated its 75 th anniversary.
Malcolm and his wife Dawn attended the Club’s meeting on 29 May, at which
President John Prest presented him with a Rotary Service Recognition Award. John
Prest said “You have been a good friend of our Rotary Club and have gone the extra
mile to support our events at the Town Hall and our successful Summer Fiesta in our
75 th year. We are extremely grateful to you for your willing help over the years.”
